The Farmer and the Snake, retold by Zheng

我小时候看到一本书，有这么一个故事至今令我印象深刻。它来自希腊的伊索寓言，说的是关于农夫与蛇。这个故事是，在一个寒冷的冬天，农夫在路过农田的时候遇到了一条快被冻死的蛇，他好心救了这条蛇。当蛇恢复了活力之后，却反咬了农夫一口。农夫被蛇咬伤后中毒了。农夫在临死之前问了蛇一个问题，“ 我救了你，为什么你还要咬我呢？”。“ 你忘了我什么本性吗？”， 蛇说。我想，这本故事书是很多中国孩子在童年时都会有的一本书，它是值得收藏的。还有这个故事中的道理对我影响也非常的深远。这个道理它就是，善会有善报吗，恶会有恶报吗？

I read a book when I was a child, and there is such a story that still impresses me deeply. It comes from Aesop’s Fables: The farmer and the snake. This story tells, in a cold winter, a farmer found a snake that was half dead with cold when he was walking through farmland, and he kindly rescued the snake. After regaining its vitality, the snake bit the farmer who had been so kind to it. The farmer was poisoned after being bitten by the snake. Before dying, the farmer asked the snake, “I saved you, why did you still bite me?”. “Have you forgotten my nature?”, said the snake. I think this storybook is a book that many Chinese kids would have in their childhood, and it is worth collecting. And the moral conveyed by this story has a very profound impact on me: will good be rewarded with good, and evil with evil?
